Catch me on WYPR - Baltimore's National Public Radio station, Tuesday at 9:00 am

I'll be discussing my book, Prague: My Long Journey Home, on Tuesday morning (May 29) at 9 am with Sheilah Kast, host of the Maryland Morning show, on WYPR, FM-88.1. If you can't catch it live, you can listen to it later on the station's web site, www.wypr.org.

Maryland Morning with Sheilah Kast is a wonderful show (at least, it has been prior to my appearance) which "finds the most intelligent and intriguing voices to probe the 'whys' and 'who cares' behind the headlines. From the Atlantic to the Appalachians, we unravel local implications of national news stories, and explore the science, history, arts, and culture of Maryland."

Book signing and discussion at Annapolis Bookstore, May 19

I will be discussing, and signing copies of, my memoir -- PRAGUE: MY LONG JOURNEY HOME -- on Saturday, May 19, at 3:00 pm, at the Annapolis Bookstore, located at 35 Maryland Avenue.

I'd like to invite everyone with an interest in my book, in World War II, in the Holocaust, and in inspirational memoirs to come join us. Please come early and browse; the Annapolis Bookstore is a wonderful place for new, used, and rare books. Check it out on www.annapolisbookstore.com.

There will be free parking at the garage on the corner of Calvert and St. Johns Streets, across from the St. John College campus. From there, it's an easy ten-minute walk to the bookstore.

I look forward to seeing you there!

Signing books at Czech and Slovak Heritage Association meeting

On Sunday, I had the pleasure of attending a meeting of the Czech and Slovak Heritage Association in Baltimore. I had the opportunity to sign my book, Prague: My Long Journey Home, for a number of Czech and Slovak emigres and descendants of emigres. Perhaps more than anything, I enjoyed eating Czech food served at the meeting. Any meal which contains the world's greatest morsel, knedliky (Czech bread dumplings), makes two hours on the road worthwhile. For those of you who have read my book, I know what you're asking: Yes, knedliky are better than Spam!
